KAIRNEXA is a practice of sparring partners to executives and leadership teams. It exists for one reason: to give the person who has to decide an interlocutor with no stake in the decision.
That is a rare position. A consultant may be engaged to recommend or implement a solution. A member of the committee has interests of their own. Someone close to you wants to reassure you. A sparring partner has no stake in the option you choose - and that is precisely what makes real confrontation possible.
Three rules that do not depend on who you meet
A practice is only worth what it holds to whoever is in the room. Here is what is not open to negotiation at KAIRNEXA.
What is said here does not leave here
No client name on this site. No logo, no named reference. No words attributed to anyone without their written agreement, and never anything that could identify the company. The situations we publish are real and anonymised, and we claim no result that the engagement records do not document. The content of an engagement is never disclosed to a third party or referenced publicly without the client’s written agreement. This rule binds every practitioner in the practice, and it has no expiry date.
No stake in your decision
KAIRNEXA has no predetermined solution to sell you and no stake in the option you choose. No KAIRNEXA practitioner receives a referral fee or commission for recommending a solution, partner or follow-on engagement. No practitioner here has any interest, direct or indirect, in pushing you towards one option rather than another. Their role is to make your reasoning sounder, not to sell you the conclusion.
You stay in charge
We do not decide for you and we do not run your workstreams. The decision remains yours, and so does its weight. What we guarantee is that it will have been looked at squarely before it is made.
What it takes to practise here
You do not become a sparring partner to executives through a certification. Four requirements govern entry to the practice.
Have led
Have held an operational leadership position and carried decisions whose consequences you had to live with. You cannot usefully confront an executive without having known, from the inside, what it costs to make a decision no one will make for you.
Having experienced failure - and being able to examine it without rewriting the story
Have run a transformation that did not hold, and be able to examine it without rewriting the story. What serves here is not a catalogue of successes: it is the lucidity not to rationalise after the fact, and the ability to recognise a stall before it becomes visible.
Know how to stay silent
Hold confidentiality, including on the very existence of an engagement, and lift it only on the client’s written agreement or where the law requires it. An executive who is hesitating can only say so to someone they know will let it travel nowhere.
Have no stake in the outcome
No KAIRNEXA sparring partner receives a commission, an introducer’s fee or any advantage tied to the option you choose. Their economic interest does not depend on the conclusion you reach. This requirement is the condition for all the others.
Where the practice stands today
KAIRNEXA is an executive sparring practice founded by Esteban Martinez-Querol, designed to progressively bring together experienced practitioners who meet the same standards of independence, executive experience and intellectual challenge. He currently carries every engagement.
You will not find a line-up of practitioners here who are not yet practising. When they take their first engagements, they will be presented on this page - and their situations will be published under the same rules as the eleven already online: what the records document, nothing more.
The same requirement that protects you as a client is what makes entry to this practice difficult.
